Zakharchenko: Ukrainian Authorities Want to Destroy Us. Truth about situation in Ukraine April 24, 2015
Kiev junta wants not only to annihilate Donbass, but also to turn Ukraine into a cemetery, the head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko said.“ Around the world, at all times, mobilisation means that war has begun, and, in fact, Kiev officially announced its preparations for new hostilities. This is yet more proof of the ‘good will’ of the Ukrainian authorities, who not only want to destroy us, but also want to turn Ukraine into a graveyard. Ukrainian mothers! Do everything possible to ensure that your children don’t go to war and lose their lives to satisfy some Kiev politician’s ambition. I want to say to the young people driven by the government into the fratricidal war in the Donbass, ‘Don’t become murderers, don’t be proud of the fact that they sent you with a gun against old folks and women. I advise you to surrender. We’ll feed you and see that you return home safe and healthy. You may get in trouble back home, but you’d be alive,” – Alexander Zakharchenko said.
Zakharchenko Ordered Establishment of DNR Digital Broadcasting Channels Beaming to the Ukraine Voices from Russia April 23, 2015 Today, at the founding congress of the DPR Union of Journalists, Chairman of the DPR Government A V Zakharchenko stated, “I’m ordering you to create digital broadcasting channels beaming to the occupied territory of the Ukraine and beyond. People zombified by Western propaganda have to know the truth about the Donbass. Creating a digital broadcasting apparat should be a priority task of the DNR Union of Journalists”.

RT Interviews Robert Oulds. “It is politically unacceptable for Western European countries, NATO, to be sending troops into Ukraine,” says Oulds. “That would just make the situation worse. And it is very rich of Poroshenko to be talking about peacekeepers… I am in Donetsk at the moment… If Poroshenko wants to deliver peace he can stop the shelling and the gunfire which I have experienced today at first hand. If he wants peace, take away the weapons from the frontline and stop attacking the people of the Donbass region.” For full RT interview see ‘If Poroshenko wants peace, he can stop shelling of Donbass’ (Apr 23).
Alexander Zakharchenko Has Taken 1ST Place in the Popularity Rating Daria Petrarulo/Donetsk News Agency April 23, 2105 The leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko has taken first place in the popularity rating, compiled by the research results of the “Special status” sociological center. The results of the study were released today at a briefing in the press center of the Donetsk News Agency by the representative of “Special status” Irina Kryzhanovskaya. The most popular person among the leaders of the DPR is the Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko – the sociologist reported. – A positive and a rather positive attitude was expressed by 82% of the respondents with 99.3% recognition. Kryzhanovskaya noted that the respondents who highly valued Zakharchenko, talked about their needs for benefits for working in harmful conditions and tend to favor the use of force for resolving the Donbas conflict. The second highest level of trust is held by the Parliament Vice Speaker Dennis Pushilin (73%), – the representative of “Special status” continued. – The third place in the ranking of confidence was taken by the Deputy Commander of the Ministry of Defense Eduard Basurin (67%). In this case, 46% of the respondents rated him definitely positive with recognition of 96.1% (second place). The fourth place in the trust rating was taken by the Speaker of the DPR Parliament Andrei Purgin (66%). The sociologist added that according to the survey, the people trust the government of the Republic in general. There is a connection between the scores of all political leaders: simply put, the respondents who place their trust in one of the political leaders proposed in the survey, in most cases trusted the others as well – Kryzhanovskaya said. This primarily suggests that the high positive assessment of the politicians was due to the public confidence in the political system of the Republic as a whole, and not just because of their public image or other characteristics. The “Special status” research was conducted in the second half of March by personal interviews using a multistage sampling among the inhabitants of Donetsk, Makeyevka, Gorlovka, Snezhnoe, Shakhtersk, Thorez, Ilovaysk, Amvrosiyivka and Khartsyzsk. The study involved 2500 respondents. Source: http://dan-news.info/politics/zaxarchenko-zanyal-pervoe-mesto-v-rejtinge-rukovodstva-dnr-za-nim-sleduyut-pushilin-basurin-purgin-socopros.html
US Makes Absurd claims as NATO Summit Approaches. The Russian Defense Ministry’s official representative, General Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday Moscow hoped the Department of State would be rid of the whirlpool of absurd declarations after the former spokesperson, Jen Psaki, had resigned her position. “However, we were mistaken,” Konashenkov said, “since the claims voiced by the new spokesperson, Marie Harf, about the concentration of ‘the highest amount of Russia air defense systems in eastern Ukraine since August’ again astonish us with the level of their incompetence.” See Tass News Agency report US stirring up commotion over fictitious Russian troops as NATO summit getting closer (Apr 23).
Zakharchenko: Ukraine can become part of the DPR. Donbass Media Group [Edited autotranslation by Quemado Institute] April 21, 2015
Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) leader Alexander Zakharchenko said he was ready to take the Ukrainian field into the DPR, if they wish, LifeNews reported. “Ukraine can become part of the DPR. We will take all the fraternal republics: Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Lvov, Odessa, Kiev and others. The country should be reborn,” said Zakharchenko. The politician said that since then, both in the Maidan and in Kiev, residents are shouting that Ukraine needs to fight corruption and violence in the country, but it has not changed; in the DPR, residents and militias are engaged in the construction of the new state. “Here there is a regeneration of the state. We are doing what they shouted in the Maidan. As a unifying force of Donbass and Donetsk, we are able to combine those republics and regions that have expressed their desire to join the NPT [sic]. We welcome all our friends and even enemies,” assured the head of the breakaway republic. Zakharchenko said that the country will be happy [to take] political refugees from the Ukraine. In Donetsk, they have already carried out the work of Euromaidan activists, politicians, journalists…. Currently in the DPR there is a restoration of infrastructure, and a preparation of social reforms. They restore roads, kindergartens, theaters.
Voluntary Troop Mobilization: DPR Well Defended. Donetsk People’s Republic Prime Minister Alexander Zakharchenko says the voluntary troop mobilization that began in February has now reached 110% of its goal, with more fighters than the DPR can arm. See Tass News Agency report Donetsk republic leader says voluntary mobilization successful (Apr 21).

Slavyangrad: “Get Out of Ukraine, Mister Harper!” Lysiane Gagnon, a renowned Canadian journalist and correspondent of the Montreal publication La Presse and the Globe and Mail, blasts the Harper government for sending two hundred Canadian soldiers to “‘advise’ Kiev in its ‘little war with Russia.” See Slavyangrad commentary Canada’s Ukrainian Obsession (Apr 22), by Lysiane Gagnon. Quemado Institute Comments: Some pro-Novorossiya observers would agree with author Lysiane Gagnon, who says, “Russia has covertly encouraged the pro-Russian rebels who want to link the Russophone east of Ukraine with Russia.” We, however, have seen no evidence that Russia has encouraged the “pro-Russian rebels” in any way, and consider this notion to be Western propaganda. Indeed, aside from humanitarian aid and Russian citizen volunteer support, it appears to us that the Kremlin has discouraged the Donbass fight for freedom at every turn, by not sending regular troops, not providing military support, refusing to recognize the DPR/LPR governments, alleging the legimitacy of Petro Poroshenko’s illegal post-coup regime, failing to establish a government-in-exile for technically legitimate Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovich, and advocating unification of the DPR/LPR with Kiev, albeit under “special status”. I would even go so far as to say the Kremlin has upon occasion actively sabotaged Novorossiya’s battle for freedom.
Ukraine: Ihor Kolomoisky Offers $1 Million to Murder Oleg Tsarev Voltaire Network Apr 17, 2015
The Israeli-Ukrainian oligarch living in Switzerland, Ihor Kolomoisky, called South-East pro-federalist leader, Oleg Tsarev, to inform him that the Ukrainian Jewish community was prepared to pay a bounty of $ 1 million to whoever would assassinate him. He ordered him to immediately flee the country . Mr. Kolomoisky holds Mr Tsarev responsible for the death of a Jewish Kiev-coup supporter on May 9 in Mariupol. However, a leader of the Ukrainian Jewish community, Ian Epstein, denied Mr. Kolomoisky’s allegations. According to him, Mr. Kolomoisky does not represent Ukrainian Jews, even though he plays an important role in the international Zionist movement. Ihor Kolomoisky had already proposed a reward of 10,000 dollars for each “Russian saboteur” arrested in his stronghold of Dnipropetrovsk. Ihor Kolomoisky is regarded as the main leader of the Ukrainian mafia. He ranks as the second or third wealthiest man in the country (after Rinat Akhmetov and/or Viktor Pinchuk). He owns the metal industry, Privat Bank and, in 2011, he took over the gas sector.
Ihor Kolomoisky chairs the United Jewish Community of Ukraine and the European Jewish Union. He founded the European Jewish Parliament (branded as a sham by the CRIF, an umbrella organization of French Jewish organizations) with the support of Bahrain. He is the co-owner of the Jewish News One international network (currently broadcasting as Ukraine News One) . Ihor Kolomoisky was appointed governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast by the junta authorities in Kiev. He played an active role in the organization of the Odessa massacre of 2 May 2014 together with his private army, the “Dnieper-1” Battalion . He recruited R. Hunter Biden, the son of U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden, and Devon Archer, co-chairman of the finance committee for John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign, as board members of his gas holdings company. Basurin Says Junta Forces Continue to Use Tanks and Mortars in Provocations Voices from Russia April 20, 2015 Today, DPR Deputy Minister of Defence Eduard А Basurin told journalists, “Ukrainian forces continue to carry out provocations using tanks, mortars, ATGMs, RPGs, and small arms. In particular, on 18 April, at about 14.00, there was intensive shelling using 8.2-cm and 12-cm mortars”. Basurin pointed up that the junta forces fired more than 400 shells at Shirokino on the previous day. Previously, they repeatedly shelled the village even when OSCE observers were present. Basurin noted, “We’re positive that the Ukrainian command intentionally intends to endanger the OSCE observers. I’d like to note the relationship of such provocations with the arrival of NATO advisers in the Ukraine, who’ll be in the country, according to official sources, from 12 April to 6 May”. Shirokino is in a no-man’s land between junta-occupied Mariupol and DNR-controlled Novoazovsk; it’s one of the tensest parts of the line of contact. The STsKK (ceasefire regulatory body) registered many provocations here on the part of the junta forces. Original in Russian at DAN Donetsk News Agency

Zakharchenko: Kiev Preparing Military Operation. Voice of Sevastopol (VoS) posts a brief report today entitled Data Indicates Kiev Preparing Military Operation – Donetsk Republic’s Head (Apr 17), repeating information from the article Zakharchenko Reports High Enemy Losses at Donetsk Airport we posted yesterday below. However the VoS account says erroneously that the DPR militia destroyed 80 enemy weapons units. The correct number is 8, according to Zakharchenko’s video statement in Russian. The error also popped up yesterday in several Russian language news accounts, but was corrected by a reliable source. Another item: when we tried to click on the source in the Voice of Sevastopol report, presumably Sputnik, a blank screen appeared with the message “Hacking attempt!” Is Sputnik being hacked? Three Poroshenko Critics Killed. In the last three days, three critics of the Kiev regime leader Petro Poroshenko have been killed in Kiev: Oles Buzina, 45, a supporter of ex-president Viktor Yanukovych; Donetsk journalist Sergei Sukhobok, killed on Monday; and Oleh Kalashnikov, 52, a former Ukrainian MP and a vocal critic of the country’s ruling government, killed on Wednesday. Former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykola Azarov, said he blamed Kiev authorities for the murder of Oleh Kalashnikov, and appealed to the leaders of the Western countries: “Because of your support in Ukraine there are political murders, terror taking place against political opponents, and all the people. What else should these Nazis do, for you to finally understand and be aware of your responsibility for what is happening now in Ukraine?” said Azarov. Demilitarisation of Shirokino is on the Table Voices from Russia April 15, 2015.
Today, Colonel-General Aleksandr Lentsov, the Russian member of the Joint Centre of Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (STsKK), told reporters that a proposal for the demilitarisation of Shirokino would be on the table in the next two days, saying, “the joint task before the STSKK is to submit a draft proposal for the demilitarisation of Shirokino to the relevant parties in the next two days. The fundamental military questions of the demilitarisation of Shirokino won’t take long”. The first priority will be to define the lines to which units of each side will withdraw. [Lentsov] told reporters that it’d take at least a week to clear Shirokino of mines and booby-traps after its formal demilitarisation, saying, “We’ve received a lot of complaints from Shirokino residents about mines laid in the village. Yesterday’s explosion of a booby-trap involving Zvezda TV cameraman Andrei Lunev just proves that. To solve this problem, we need to clear the settlement, but we can only do that after we demilitarise it. Overall, to do the job right will take at least a week”. Yesterday, Zvezda TV cameraman Andrei Lunev set off a booby-trap when STsKK members, OSCE observers, and journalists visited Shirokino. He’s now in critical condition in hospital in Novoazovsk. Local doctors had the aid of a special team of surgeons and intensive care specialists sent urgently from Donetsk by the DNR Ministry of Health. Berlin Normandy Four Foreign Ministers Meeting. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier told reporters the Ukraine peace talks have been controversial, but said all participants agreed on Monday that there was no alternative to the ceasefire agreement signed in Minsk on February 12. See Novorossia Today article at Foreign ministers call for end to fighting in Donbass (Apr 14). Editor’s Note: There are days when NATO’s presence in Europe, aggravated by growing US provocation of Russia, makes it seem that a World War is imminent. This is not a prospect to be flirted with, as nothing would be more harmful to the people and living creatures of this earth than a major European war, possibly escalating into a nuclear confrontation. On such days, we agree with Steinmeier, and Angela Merkel as well, about the urgency of maintaining the truce in Donbass. Despite suspicions that the West is promoting the Minsk agreements to cheat Novorossiya out of its right to self-rule, we have faith in the unwavering stance of DPR/LPR Prime Ministers Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky, who are determined to make Kiev abide by their stringent interpretation of Minsk as they understood it and as they signed it.
Battles Resume Near Peski. Pro-Novorossiya analysts Colonel Cassad and Gleb Basov have both reported a resumption of fighting near the Donetsk airport in the town of Peski, and consider this proof Kiev is not interested in peace,. According to them, this may doom the Minsk 2.0 Agreements. See Russia Insider commentary Donbass and Russia Talk Peace, Kiev Attacks, Germany Does Nothing (Apr 14). Editor’s Note: Despite that DPR territory was lost and retaken, indicating heavy fighting, the Minsk 2.0 ceasefire is not necessarily doomed. We hope that the truce will continue, as war is not something to be flirted with given the tense situation in Europe. We caution that Basov and Cassad, as we’ve gathered from their independent reports, may both advocate resumption of war due to the unfairness of the Minsk process, an objection we understand. They might therefore tend to be more pessimistic about the continuance of the fragile ceasefire. Our expectation is that DPR/LPR Prime Ministers Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky have adopted a strategy to address these concerns.

Ukrainian False Flag Expected: Donetsk republic warns of provocations with men dressed in Russian military uniform Tass April 11, 2015. Earlier, the DPR Defence Ministry said that in recent days the Ukrainian military had intensified shelling of the self-proclaimed republic’s territory. Ukrainian military are going to stage provocations with participation of people dressed in Russian Armed Forces’ military uniform, the spokesman for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic’s (DPR) Defence Ministry said on Saturday. “Our intelligence says that vehicles carrying people dressed in Russian military uniform have left the city of Dnepropetrovsk,” the local Donetsk news agency quoted him as saying. “We are afraid that Ukrainian military disguised as Russian servicemen are going to stage another provocation in Ukraine.” Earlier, the DPR Defence Ministry said that in recent days the Ukrainian military had intensified shelling of the self-proclaimed republic’s territory. Along with this, DPR Speaker Denis Pushilin warned of Kiev’s possible provocations linked to Malaysian air experts’ arrival in the DPR to again explore the MH17 crash site.

Those Who Want War Predict War: Strelkov Says The Truce Ended in the Donbas (Apr 10) Federalnoye Agentsvo Novosti [Edited autotranslation]. The leader of the public movement “New Russia” Igor Strelkov is sure that the truce has come to an end in the Donbass. According to him, the attack can begin even before Easter. Strelkov, at whose disposal is operational information, said that the situation is heating up, and now we are talking about a new aggravation of the situation in the areas of armed conflict in Ukraine. “In general, we can say that the truce ended. Shooting, including with artillery, is happening on all fronts,” he commented about the situation. According to him, the attack could begin quite soon, perhaps even before Easter. “To attack, the enemy force has advanced to the front. It is possible that the attack will start without waiting for Easter,” said Strelkov, according to reports from [the internet] portal “Russian Spring”. Earlier it was reported that security forces had pulled heavy weapons to Donetsk. Firing from their positions do not stop. In the morning on Friday [we] became aware of the death of a militiaman under fire from the Ukrainian army. In the DPR it was said earlier that at Easter they expect provocations from the [Ukrainian] security forces. Editor’s Note: Strelkov has been eager for war, and some sympathetic observers agree that war is the only solution. However, the present ceasefire breaches do not necessarily mean war has begun. Many, including us, still hope for a peaceful path to independence for the Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts.
Spartak Suffers Massive UAF Shelling. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have started massive tank shelling of positions of the Donetsk People’s Republic militia in Spartak from the direction of the city of Avdeyevka, which is controlled by Ukrainian soldiers, the DPR Defense Ministry told the Donetsk News Agency. See Tass News Agency report Ukrainian tanks start massive shelling of militia positions – DPR Defense Ministry (Apr 10). Editor’s note: Spartak lies northeast of and adjacent to the Donetsk airport, while Avdeyevka lies about 8 km further north.

Line of Demarcation in the Donbass Is the Line of Fire (Apr 10) Vesti.ru [Edited autotranslation] In the village of Spartak, a suburb of Donetsk, OSCE observers have arrived. Last night, Ukrainian troops rained down on homes and militia positions a barrage of fire. During the last day, Kiev violated the ceasefire a total of 60 times in the subdivision. In one house, Sergei Kravchenko has not lived there for more than a month. Instead of the ceiling in the living room, there is a huge hole through the roof, where a shell exploded right in the room. Now the man with his family moved to an apartment in the city – it is safer, but the house, which was on the line of confrontation Ukrainian military and militia did not intend to throw [sic]. The line of demarcation between the forces of the militia and the Ukrainian position now held once in a few localities. From the village on the outskirts of Donetsk, Spartak is only 700 meters away from the Ukrainian law enforcers position. Spartak village is at the very boundary line. Only tonight the Ukrainian army shelled the town with tanks nine times. In addition to this, the firing was conducted here with 122-millimeter artillery weapons, which Minsk arrangements say should be withdrawn from the line of contact. Through the village, where there are still civilians, security forces beat the Ukrainian direct fire [sic] from tanks and heavy artillery. On the ground, there is a fresh crater left after a night of shelling. By nightfall, the intensity of the fire on positions of militias increases. But during the day here gunshots are heard. Today the representatives of the OSCE Mission and the Russian participants of the contact group to monitor the ceasefire saw that the truce is not respected on the Ukrainian side. After the shelling, which for the last day happened at least 80 times, the militia bear losses, but is not responding to the provocation. And it has nothing: there are only small arms, heavy reserved [sic]. The enemy also has tanks and mortars. All heavy machinery and artillery of the DPR army is now in the rear. Telmanovskiy district is 20 kilometers from forward positions of the militias. Trophy heavy howitzers and multiple rocket “Grad” launchers are here for a few months. This can not be said about the artillery of the Ukrainian security services, which is still in violation of all the agreements, and continues daily shelling of civilian areas and villages, and so there is little that is left.
Zakharchenko Dimisses Poroshenko’s Reintegration Statement. Donetsk People’s Republic Prime Minister Alexander Zakharchenko has dismissed as absurd the remarks of Kiev regime leader Petro Poroshenko about a unitary Ukraine under one language. Noting Poroshenko’s signature was not on the Minsk agreements, Zakharchenko said Poroshenko “is uttering words for their own sake.” The Tass article is found at DPR: Poroshenko’s statement about Donbass’ reintegration into unitary Ukraine is wish-wash (Apr 11).

Editor’s note: Apparently Portman is not bothered by the contradiction between supporting both the Minsk peace agreements and military aid for Kiev. Portman is one of two senators responsible for launching the Senate ukraine Caucus, a heavily biased pro-Kiev organization. As Portman stated, “We need this caucus now more than ever as the Ukrainian people fight to preserve their freedom in the face of Russian aggression.” Source: Portman and Durbin Launch Senate Ukraine Caucus.

Alexander Zakharchenko: DPR Websites Attacked. [Edited autotranslation from dnr-online.ru] Comment of the Head of DPR Alexander Zakharchenko about attack to DPR websites (Apr 8). Today there has been an attempt to destabilize the work of the government information agencies – the Donetsk News agency and the Official site of Council of Ministers and National Council. The sites underwent a DDOS attack, unprecedented in power, that led to a long interruption in work. This is yet more proof of so-called “peacefulness” and “aspirations for constructive dialogue” from the Ukrainian aggressors who in powerless rage decided to already begin war in information space. Kiev does not need the truth, it can not allow that residents of Ukraine receive independent and honest information on the events in Donbass. The government of Ukraine is not interested in simple Ukrainians learning about the continuous violation of the truce by the Ukrainian armed forces, about marauding by battalions of the National Guards on our land, about the true number of losses among the Kiev troops. They do not need the truth, they need war, even if it is an information war. But, as well as on the fronts of our Republic, on the information front, the victory will be ours. People will know the truth that really is created in Donbass, and this will not be prevented by anybody. Putin Rumor: If You Don’t Need Donbass, Declare It Independent. The rumor that Kiev regime leader Petro Poroshenko offered Donbass to Putin and Putin refused it has popped up in various guises, at Tass, the Moscow Times and elsewhere. See Sputnik report at Heard Through Grapevine: Putin Turned Down Poroshenko’s Offer of Donbass (Apr 6). Yatsenyuk: Ukraine Fights War to Protect West. Kiev regime Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk, at a meeting with Angela Merkel in Berlin, put forth the fantastic notion that Ukraine is fighting Donbass to protect Europe and the EU from Putin’s aggression. “Putin’s ultimate goal is to wage a war against the West,” Yatsenyuk said. “Ukraine is fighting against the terrorists, whom Moscow commands, thus protecting Europe and the European Union.” Political analyst Vladimir Bruter of the International Institute of Humanitarian and Political Studies told Pravda.Ru, “Yatsenyuk is trying to find a new support group for himself, given that Germany and the United States differ in their approach and stance on the Ukrainian crisis.” The expert added, “Yatsenyuk is trying to take advantage of these contradictions.” See Ukraine’s Yatsenyuk prepares Germany for USA’s war (Apr 3). Russia Underscores Abandonment of Donbass. Yet again, official Russia rubs in the fact that Moscow has no interest in aiding Novorossiya’s struggle for independence. As Alexey Pushkov of the Russian State Duma lower parliament house said on Monday, “Russia’s position is as follows: eastern regions of Ukraine are part of Ukraine, unlike Crimea, which was once incorporated into Ukraine as a result of a historic confusion. Today, no one casts any doubts that eastern regions are Ukrainian territory.” The Tass report is found at Russia has never doubted Donbas being part of Ukraine — Russian lawmaker (Apr 6). Vladimir Suchan quipped on Twitter today: “Pushkov: ‘No one casts doubt that Donbass is part of Ukraine.’ This makes millions of Donbass people ‘no one’ and referendum a vote of ‘no one’.” Editor’s Note: It seems like Novorossiya is fighting the whole world. This injustice needs to change. Fortunately, Novorossiya has an ally in Russian parliamentarian Konstantin Kosachev, who said in March that Russia will support an independent Donetsk and Lugansk if no other options are open. Since it is already clear that no other options are open, why the delay in recognition? Perhaps Moscow is waiting for the slow but growing awareness of the world community. See Russia may back Donbas independence if no other options are left, says parliamentarian (Mar 6). .
Yorosh Becomes Top Military Advisor: Nazi or Neo-Nazi? Ukraine’s Interpol-wanted leader of extremist group Right Sector, Dmitry Yarosh, has been appointed as an adviser to the country’s Chief of General Staff, according to RT. The report is found at Ukraine’s neo-Nazi leader becomes top military adviser, legalizes fighters (Apr 6). Editor’s note: What are Dmitry Yarosh and the Right Sector’s real links with German World War II nazis? On 30 June 1941, eight days after Germany’s attack on the Soviet Union, Stepan Bandera of Lviv proclaimed an independent Ukrainian state. His militant branch of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) thought that, in their struggle against the Soviet Union, they had a powerful ally in Nazi Germany. After a falling out and imprisonment by the Germans, in 1944, with the war going very badly against Germany, Bandera was released in the hope that he would fight the advancing Soviet forces. He established his headquarters in Berlin and received German financial, material, and personnel support for his Ukrainian Insurgent Army. On 22 January 2010, the outgoing President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko awarded Bandera the posthumous title of Hero of Ukraine. In January 2011, the award was officially annulled, according to Wikipedia. Political analyst George Eliason of Global Research outlines the Right Sector’s links to Bandera: “Right Sector became famous at the beginning of the Euro Maidan protests and subsequent revolution. It serves as the umbrella group for the combined militant Ultra Nationalist groups that existed in Ukraine prior to the revolution and that insist on a pure Ultra Nationalist Ukrainian nation under the most rigid conformity to Stepan Bandera’s philosophy. Mr. Yarosh is the leader of Tryzub (Trident) which is the core Right Sector group. He has spent twenty years doing nothing else but preparing for the revolution that will sweep Ukraine’s government into extreme Ultra Nationalism…. Dmitri Yarosh has been very clear from his first interviews that he is guided only by Bandera’s writings and the writings of the group’s founding leaders.” From Ukraine’s Neo-Nazis. Poroshenko Critic Forced to Flee Ukraine: Unknown men armed with machine-guns raided the apartment of a political analyst – critic of Poroshenko’s regime Novorossia Today April 1, 2015
Kiev, March 31 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Head of the Kiev branch of the Institute of the Commonwealths of Independent States political analyst Denis Denisov was forced to leave the Ukrainian capital after his apartment was visited by a group of “athletes”, and the next day — by armed men in camouflage uniforms. As Denis Denisov told PolitNavigator, the incidents occurred after his sharp criticism of the Ukrainian authorities in the air of Russian TV at Vladimir Solovyev’s talk show, where Denisov claimed that he was not going to leave Kiev. “I said that despite everything I will go back to Kiev, because we weren’t going to abandon Kiev to that scum”, — Denisov explained. According to him, he soon received a recruitment note and was to be mobilized to the ATO zone. “They suggested that I should fire from MRLS “Grad” at my grandparents living in Donetsk”, — the political analyst said. The next day after he failed to appear at the enlistment office, a group of young people wearing training suites arrived at the block of flats, where Denisov lived, asking the neighbours about his whereabouts. Denisov was away that time, as he was returning from Belgrade. Nevertheless the next day armed people in camouflage uniforms appeared near the building at about midnight and resumed inquiries among the neighbours. Since then the unknown people had been surveying Denisov’e residence from a car around the clock. The neighbours warned the analyst about the danger, and he decided to flee Ukraine. “This is the continuation of struggle with dissent. As you know, some people were silenced by incarceration, and others had been assaulted. Enlistment notes are also used as a method of fighting with dissenters. It all went so far that the note was delivered to the hospital ward of the 56-year-old head of the press-service of Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate. In case of failure to come to the enlistment office, one can be charged with draft evasion”, — Denisov said. According to him, in spite of the forced escape, the work of the Ukrainian branch of the Institute of the CIS countries would continue.
